The newly renamed Winter in Westchester Tournament was held from January 8-10, 2010 at The Bridge Deck & at The Riverview Caterers. The tournament kicked off Friday afternoon with Gerald Sosler and Kay Schulle winning the open pairs competition while Denise and Paul Resnik came in first in the 0-200 game. Friday evening, Rick Goldstein and Laura Brill finished first. On Saturday the event moved to the Riverview where players were served a breakfast before the morning game, lunch and presentation of player of the year and new life master recognition followed between sessions, and cocktails and passed trays of food continued the festivities after the 2nd session. The committee led by Joan Gerard, Doris Staubi & Karen Zuckerberg, with assistance by Melissa Baker and Elizabeth Brisson all helped make the day run extremely smoothly. The Harriet Aks Memorial Bowl was won in the morning by Steve Huhman and Dan Wolkowitz, while Dan Hertz and Carlos Munoz won the pair event in the afternoon. On Sunday, the weekend concluded with a terrific buffet prepared by Linda Otness, who did a great job by herself, before the Golden Apple Swiss teams were held. Strat A winners were Fred Hawa, Dennis Newman, Faye Marino & Rich Laufer. In Strat B, the team of Jay Sloofman, Albert Shekter, Cliff Nebel and Ed Zuckerberg won and Strat C was won by the team of Harold & Renee Kelvin, Antoinette Buonafede and Evan Spencer.

Rob Baker and his wife Melissa made the trip to the San Diego NABC's last month, but Rob didn't spend his time playing bridge. Rob, who is an Opthalmologist in New Rochelle, and whose passions include Astrononomy, classical music and opera (and Melissa, of course) recently added photography to his repertoire and while Melissa was playing in the Nationals with Linda Otness, Rob did a wonderful photo essay on the bridge players in the event.
