From June 1 through August 31, local clubs will be giving you the opportunity to qualify for a chance to represent your District in the North American Pairs Championships to be held in conjunction with the Spring NABC in March 2010 in Reno, Nevada. Check our "Upcoming events" page for a listing of NAP qualifying games.
The 2009 WCBA Double KO Tournament moves into round 3 in June. Here is the list of Currently registered teams as well as the schedules for Bracket 1, Bracket 2, and Bracket 3. You can also view last year's winners here . Please note that what we have posted is a screen capture and the links are not active. To view the full page with active links you may visit the tournament coordinator, Mike McNamara's personal web page available on our "Bridge Links" page.
There are a few changes this year:
Brackets
The limit for Bracket 3 has been moved up to 1000 mps and up to 2500 for Bracket 2. The purpose of this is to get a large field in Bracket 3 with more masterpoints for those that finish in the overalls. The change was made also to be in line with strats at sectionals and with the ACBL designation of 1000 being Silver LM and 2500 being Gold LM.
Must Play Dates
Last year extensions were granted at several points to allow matches to be played. That inadvertently led to a situation where unforeseen circumstances caused the final match in Bracket 1 not to be played. To avoid this, the WCBA Unit Board voted to institute firm must play dates. Each month the coordinator will pick a date and time by which each match must be played. If the teams cannot agree on a date prior to the must play date, then the match must be played on the must play date at the time indicated. The must play dates will be dates at the end of each month at a time when one of the participating clubs is holding a regularly scheduled game. If one or both teams fails to field a team on the must play date, then one or both teams will forfeit that match.
Mediation
Given the new must play date structure, the Coordinator will be available to try to help teams find a date to play. If you reach the 15th of the month or if you have tried already and cannot find a date, captains are encouraged to contact the Coordinator so that he can help find a date for the match to be played. Good luck everyone! -Mike McNamara

In 2009 the WCBA will be printing a new directory of its members for distribution to all members. Since the directory is printed once every 5 years, please take the time to make sure the ACBL has the correct information that you would like printed about yourself on file. This is how many members will find you over the next 5 years so use the link provided here to go to MyACBL and check that your telephone number, etc. is how you want it to appear. The WCBA will import our data direct from ACBL files.

Have you ever felt at the bridge table that you have been mistreated by your opponents, or, perish the thought, by your partner?
